The grape that defines our terroir
Garnacha Tinta
Queen of the Aragonese vineyards
Garnacha Tinta (Grenache noir) is one of the oldest and most noble grape varieties of the Mediterranean. Native to Aragon, this vine has found its most authentic expression in the lands of Calatayud, adapting over centuries to an extreme climate of dry summers and harsh winters.
It is a late-ripening variety, extraordinarily resistant to drought and wind. Its deep roots seek water in poor slate and limestone soils, concentrating in each berry an intensity of flavour that only time and terroir can bestow.
Where Garnacha reaches its fullest expression
In the Calatayud Denomination of Origin, Garnacha vineyards sit on south-facing mountain slopes with slate soils. The extreme altitude and the temperature range between day and night allow slow ripening that preserves natural acidity and enhances aromas.

Character, elegance and minerality
Calatayud Garnacha offers a complex aromatic profile dominated by ripe red fruits — cherry, raspberry, redcurrant — intertwined with floral notes of violet and jasmine, and a distinctive mineral background that reveals its origin in slate soils.
On the palate, old-vine Garnacha wines are distinguished by their silky tannins and surprising freshness for the latitude. Spicy nuances — pepper, liquorice, rosemary — give way to a long and persistent finish, with echoes of fruit and damp earth.
